Tax-Exempt Certificates
Emory is currently exempt from state sales tax in 27 states. If your travel is in any one of these states, print off the appropriate certificate from the list below and present to the hotel front desk when checking in to avoid sales tax expenses. However, please be aware that each state law varies as to the types of taxes charged and types of taxes that are exempt.
Your name and your work address (not personal address) must be used for the hotel reservation. Some hotels may require you to show proof that it is business travel, such as a conference registration, etc.
These certificates can only be used for official Emory business and not for personal use.
